NOS-HS exploratory network on Esports in the Nordics

This research network brought together leading Nordic research environments to map the structural, commercial, and youth-cultural characteristics of esports.

The aim was to bring about a deeper understanding of esports as mediated culture and potential platform for inclusive communities and citizenship at the same level as other organised sports.

The key themes of our workshops were:

  • Esports as “mediasport” and media entertainment
  • Esports and civic society
  • Esport as youth culture in the context of health factors

All workshops included a broad range of participants including senior scholars and junior scholars from the network, international scholars delivering keynotes, and stakeholders from civil society and the esports business.
