Klaus Bruhn Jensen’s Triple Jubilee Celebration
On Friday 23 October, Professor Klaus Bruhn Jensen was celebrated on the occasion of three remarkable milestones: his 70th birthday, 40 years at the University of Copenhagen, and 25 years as a professor. The celebrations began with an academic event, followed by a reception attended by colleagues, family and friends.
The academic programme centred on the theme How many degrees of media can there be? Through a series of video messages and scholarly presentations, the event explored a fundamental question underpinning Klaus Bruhn Jensen’s research on mediated communication.
At the reception, speakers highlighted the qualities that have characterised Klaus’s many years of contributions to research, teaching and university life. He was described as a generous colleague who readily shares both his time and expertise. His thoroughness and structured approach to academic work were praised, as was the impact of his research, both at the University of Copenhagen and far beyond Denmark’s borders. Klaus is widely recognised and respected within the international research community, and his work has left a lasting mark on the fields of media and communication studies.
Through his research, Klaus Bruhn Jensen has helped shape the international understanding of media and communication. He is particularly known for his theories on the development and interplay of media, as well as for his ability to bridge classical mass media and the forms of communication that characterise the digital age.
There was therefore every reason to celebrate a research career spanning 40 years, one that remains highly active, not least through his current research project, GREENWATCH.
