APPMONITOR

APPMONITOR is an ERC Proof of Concept project addressing a societal need to monitor third-party tracking in mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms within the European Union. It spins off from research conducted under an ERC starting grant, Datafied Living.

APPMONITOR aims to develop an open-source toolkit and prototype interface to enhance transparency and give users more control over their personal data. Overall, the project seeks to bridge the technical, legal, and user-centered dimensions of data tracking, providing both empirical evidence and practical tools to support transparency and accountability, enforcement of regulations, and informed user choice. We collaborate with a wide range of policy and civic society stakeholders.
