Klaus Bruhn Jensen has received an ERC Advanced Grant

CTS professor Klaus Bruhn Jensen has received an ERC Advanced Grant for the project "GREENWATCH – Green Surveillance: Imagining a Sustainable Internet of Things”. The prestigious research grant is given to senior researchers to lead ambitious research projects of the highest international quality.

In GREENWATCH, Klaus and colleagues will study whether and how The Internet of Things (IoT) may enhance the green transition by monitoring at scale the effects of human activity on the earth’s ecosystems through digital and data-driven technologies. Green surveillance via IoT involves a range of ethical and political dilemmas. GREENWATCH asks what degrees of surveillance, with which checks and balances, humans are willing to accept to secure the survival of the species, biodiversity, and our shared planet.
